The 189 Independent Skilled Worker Visa refers to an immigration application submitted by an applicant solely based on their personal education, work experience/professional skills, language proficiency, and does not require any sponsorship. It is a permanent residency visa category. You can apply both within Australia and outside of Australia. After successful immigration, live, work, and study in any region of Australia.
189 Visa Application Conditions

189 Visa Specific Requirements
1. The application for the 189 visa needs to be scored through the skilled immigration scoring system (please refer to the scoring table at the bottom). After passing the scoring test and meeting the minimum score standard, the applicant must submit an EOI (Expression of Interest) to the immigration office. Only after receiving an invitation from the immigration office can the visa application be submitted. The current minimum score standard is 65 points.
The occupation for applying for the 189 Independent Skilled Worker Visa must be on the Medium and Long term Strategic Skills List MLTSSL, which currently includes nearly 212 occupations. IT, Engineering, healthcare, biomedical research, business management, and primary and secondary school teachers are popular majors for international students applying for independent technical immigration.
The 189 visa application requires a vocational assessment. Currently, there are 28 different career assessment agencies in Australia that evaluate different professions. Career assessment agencies are independent institutions outside of the immigration bureau, and the assessment requirements for some professions may not be completely consistent with the application requirements of the immigration bureau. In addition, the 189 visa can be applied for together with the child. If the spouse or accompanying child over 18 years old does not achieve a total IELTS score of 4.5, an additional language learning fee will be required.
Scope of application for 189 visa
The occupation is on the Medium and Long term Strategic Skills List MLTSSL of technical occupations. Those who score 65 or above on the EOI through vocational assessment can apply for 189 independent technical immigration. Some may not have an Australian degree but have qualified work experience in China. As long as they can score a minimum of 65 points, they can also directly apply for the 189 Independent Skilled Migration.
